What is your role?
I am a wilderness Instructor for HIOBS land and sea programs.
Why did you choose a career in outdoor education?
I choose a career in outdoor education because I LOVE LIVING OUTSIDE, being humbled and challenge by the earth’s raw elements. I also was really drawn to this career because I am a student who in the past did not feel inspired in typical academia. Working with my hands and with other people totally inspires me.
How did you end up working for HIOBS?
I was looking for meaningful work, that involved being outside, working with others and opportunities to grow as an individual.
What is your favorite thing about working for HIOBS?
My favorite thing about working for HIOBS is watching students overcome challenging situations and getting to see how proud they are of what they have accomplished.
If you had to sum up HIOBS in one word what would it be?
Growth
What is something people may not know about you?
I wish I felt more comfortable singing and playing instruments that I could make up my own songs.
