A TRIBUTE DONATION

Contributions in memory/honor of someone

HIOBS donors may choose to contribute to honor a student, a staff member, or another friend of Outward Bound, or in memory of an alum, a former staff or Board member. Tribute contributions can be made directly through our Donation form.

Named scholarship funds

HIOBS donors may establish named or memorial scholarship funds at HIOBS. These are endowed or annually funded programs that award scholarships based on specific criteria or in memory of an individual.  For more information on establishing a named or memorial scholarship, contact Rachel Loomis Lee, Development Director, at [email protected].

EMPLOYER DONATION MATCH

Corporate matching contributions are a type of philanthropy where companies financially match donations that their employees make to nonprofit organizations.

When you donate, you can request a matching gift from your employer, who then makes a direct donation to the same nonprofit. Companies usually match donations at a 1:1 ratio, but some will match at a 2:1, 3:1, or even a 4:1 ratio.

Hurricane Island Outward Bound School (HIOBS) encourages the solicitation and acceptance of gifts to the school that will help it to fulfill its mission. The Board of Directors of HIOBS has adopted the following policies and guidelines to govern acceptance of gifts to HIOBS for the benefit of any of its programs. These policies and guidelines are intended to provide guidance to prospective donors and their advisors and to assist HIOBS in complying with applicable IRS regulations.
